STEM Learning

Our students build a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, equipping them to embrace tomorrow’s challenges.

How does our program equip students for the future?

At ISP, we empower students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to apply scientific principles, mathematical reasoning, and technology to solve real-world problems through engineering.

Our strong STEM program is supported by dedicated resources, specialized spaces, and expert guidance, ensuring students are ready for the future.

STEM is integrated into the curriculum, with additional exploration opportunities through After-School Activities and Clubs.

Integrated units of inquiry
Engineering, design, robotics, and computer science are integrated into our inquiry-based units, promoting hands-on exploration and critical thinking.

Stand-alone courses
These courses equip students with practical skills, foster creative problem-solving, and engage with emerging technologies, preparing them to lead in a rapidly evolving world

Discover the STEM Curriculum designed for every stage

1st-5th grades have a weekly STEM class with a dedicated teacher, where they learn about robotics and coding.
K-5th grades have at least one STEM engineering design challenge per year.
Students can also explore extended learning opportunities in coding and robotics through After School Activities.
All 6th grade students take a semester-long STEM Engineering and Design class to explore future STEM elective options.
In 7th grade, students can begin selecting STEM electives such as design, technology/coding, and robotics.
By 8th grade, students continue to refine their STEM focus by choosing from the same elective options.
Students fulfill science and math requirements through comprehensive courses, including IB options like physics, chemistry, and higher–level math.
STEM electives available include Introduction to Computer Science, CAD, Physical Computing, Robotics, and Product Design.
11th & 12th grade students can pursue the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Diploma, a two-year program focused on fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and solving real-world problems.

How STEM supports our Core Values and Principles of Learning

Compassion and integrity

STEM teaches students how to fail, support each other and grow.

Strength in Diversity

Girls are underrepresented in STEM fields, and ISP is committed to addressing this by ensuring all students have access to STEM education.

Commitment to Excellence

STEM allows students to tackle the challenges in their community and around

Innovative Spirit

STEM creates creative and curious learners, empowered to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

Lasting Impact

STEM doesn’t just teach kids about sustainability, students build actual sustainable solutions to today’s problems.

Principles of learning

STEM education supports all aspects of ISP’s Principles of Learning:

After School Activities and Clubs

STEM learning encompasses diverse spaces where students can explore limitless opportunities for growth and connection.
