STEM Learning
Our students build a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, equipping them to embrace tomorrow’s challenges.
How does our program equip students for the future?

At ISP, we empower students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to apply scientific principles, mathematical reasoning, and technology to solve real-world problems through engineering.
Our strong STEM program is supported by dedicated resources, specialized spaces, and expert guidance, ensuring students are ready for the future.
STEM is integrated into the curriculum, with additional exploration opportunities through After-School Activities and Clubs.
Integrated units of inquiry
Engineering, design, robotics, and computer science are integrated into our inquiry-based units, promoting hands-on exploration and critical thinking.
Stand-alone courses
These courses equip students with practical skills, foster creative problem-solving, and engage with emerging technologies, preparing them to lead in a rapidly evolving world

How STEM supports our Core Values and Principles of Learning
STEM teaches students how to fail, support each other and grow.
Girls are underrepresented in STEM fields, and ISP is committed to addressing this by ensuring all students have access to STEM education.
STEM allows students to tackle the challenges in their community and around
STEM creates creative and curious learners, empowered to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
STEM doesn’t just teach kids about sustainability, students build actual sustainable solutions to today’s problems.

Principles of learning
STEM education supports all aspects of ISP’s Principles of Learning:
- Engineering Design is by nature iterative.
- Robotics is exciting.
- Solving real world issues is meaningful.
- STEM is social by encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
After School Activities and Clubs
STEM learning encompasses diverse spaces where students can explore limitless opportunities for growth and connection.

VEX Robotics Teams
Available for students from 3rd to 12th grade, these teams represent ISP and Panama in global competitions. Since 2018, ISP has used VEX as its primary robotics platform and partners with Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy to train teachers in the best practices for instruction.

Near Space Program
A long-standing ISP tradition for over 10 years, this program empowers students to design and launch high-altitude balloons, collecting valuable atmospheric data. Students have been featured in documentaries and have even communicated with astronauts at their space base!

Service Engineering and Technology
Aligned with ISP’s values of Compassion, Integrity, and Lasting Impact, this club empowers students to serve local communities by providing solar-powered solutions in underserved areas, using STEM knowledge to make a meaningful difference.

iGEM Team
Students apply synthetic biology to solve real-world problems, representing ISP in prestigious international competitions.

Other After School Activities
In addition to these programs, students can explore Coding, Lego Building, and Lego Robotics.
